Dr. Abhishek Bhalotia Invited as Faculty to Teach Direct Anterior Hip Replacement at Ramaiah Wet Lab, Bangalore

Dr. Abhishek Bhalotia was recently invited as a faculty speaker and surgical trainer at the prestigious Ramaiah Wet Lab, Bangalore, where he conducted academic sessions and live demonstrations on Direct Anterior Hip Replacement for orthopaedic surgeons from across India.
The workshop brought together experienced surgeons and young orthopaedic professionals keen to refine their understanding of advanced hip replacement techniques. The program focused on improving surgical precision, pre-operative planning, and team coordination while performing Total Hip Replacement using the Direct Anterior Approach (DAA).
During the conference, Dr. Bhalotia delivered expert lectures on two important topics:
• Pre-operative Planning using X-ray & OT Setup for Total Hip Replacement by Direct Anterior Approach – How Teamwork Makes a Difference
• Releases Around the Proximal Femur & Femoral Preparation using Actis Instruments
Through these sessions, he discussed the importance of meticulous radiographic planning, precise implant templating, structured operating room setup, and coordinated teamwork during complex hip replacement procedures. His presentation also highlighted the technical nuances involved in femoral preparation and soft tissue releases around the proximal femur to achieve optimal implant positioning and long-term stability.
The workshop featured hands-on cadaveric demonstrations where surgeons had the opportunity to observe and practice the Direct Anterior Approach, a modern technique for hip replacement that allows muscle-sparing access to the joint and may support faster recovery in selected patients.
A special highlight of the event was the presence of Dr. Frans‑Jozef Vendeputte, an internationally respected orthopaedic surgeon from Belgium who is widely recognised for pioneering work in the Direct Anterior Hip Replacement technique. Surgeons from around the world travel to Belgium to train under Dr. Vendeputte and learn advanced methods of hip arthroplasty.
Dr. Abhishek Bhalotia shared the stage with Dr. Vendeputte during the workshop, contributing to academic discussions and practical demonstrations that helped participating surgeons understand the finer aspects of the approach.
In addition to delivering lectures and demonstrations, Dr. Bhalotia also participated in interactive teaching sessions, faculty discussions, and surgical workshops designed to promote knowledge exchange and skill development among orthopaedic surgeons.
Reflecting on the experience, Dr. Bhalotia described the event as a rewarding opportunity to both teach and learn alongside respected colleagues in the field of joint replacement surgery. The workshop created a collaborative environment where surgeons could explore modern techniques, share clinical insights, and refine their surgical approaches.
Events such as the Ramaiah Wet Lab play an important role in advancing orthopaedic education by bringing together experienced faculty and practising surgeons in a hands-on academic setting. By contributing as a faculty member, Dr. Abhishek Bhalotia continues to actively participate in the ongoing development of joint replacement techniques and surgical training in India.
His involvement in such academic platforms reflects a continued commitment to knowledge sharing, surgical education, and advancement of modern joint replacement practices.
Advancing Surgical Excellence: Dry Saw Bone Hands-on Training Workshop on Total Knee Replacement at United Superspeciality Hospital, Gondia

Gondia, 13th October 2025
Reinforcing its commitment to advancing orthopaedic education and surgical precision, United Superspeciality Hospital, Gondia successfully hosted a Dry Saw Bone Hands-on Training Workshop on Total Knee Replacement (TKR), led by Dr. Abhishek Bhalotia, Robotic & Muscle-Sparing Joint Replacement Surgeon, along with his expert clinical team.
The highly focused academic and practical training initiative brought together 25 Orthopaedic Surgeons from across the region, offering them a structured platform to refine their surgical skills through immersive learning and real-time hands-on experience. The workshop emphasized precision, technique standardization, and evolving best practices in knee arthroplasty.
Participants received the unique opportunity to perform Total Knee Replacement procedures on Saw Bone models, simulating intra-operative conditions in a controlled learning environment. This enabled surgeons to grasp crucial aspects including bone cuts, alignment principles, implant positioning, soft tissue balancing, and decision-making strategies inherent to successful TKR outcomes.
Dr. Bhalotia, known for his expertise in robotic and muscle-sparing knee replacement techniques, personally guided the sessions, offering technical insights, clinical wisdom, and practical pearls to optimize surgical outcomes. His approach reflected a strong emphasis on precision, safety, reproducibility, and patient-centric results—values central to his surgical practice.
The workshop also encouraged open peer discussions, case-based learning, and troubleshooting strategies to enhance confidence and surgical decision-making among participating surgeons.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Bhalotia shared, “Continuous learning and hands-on practice are the cornerstones of surgical excellence. Through collaborative skill-building platforms like these, we strengthen not just techniques, but the future of orthopaedic care for our communities.” The event stood as a testament to United Superspeciality Hospital’s ongoing efforts to contribute to medical skill development, elevate joint replacement standards, and foster knowledge exchange within the orthopaedic fraternity.
